Cookies..Cookies...

Delicious cookies...Chocolate cookies..but wait! did you know what is cookies?? i bet all of you already know what is 'cookie'. Right? however I still want to share something about cookies..here we go..

Cookies are small pieces of information that deposited onto your hard disk from web site that you have visit. While cookies are harmless in and of themselves, but what make them potentially dangerous is that they can store information about you without your knowledge.

There are two basic types of cookies; Traditional and Ad Network.

Traditional cookies provide information to a single site. When you first visit a site, a cookie is deposited with information that identifies you specifically( such as information you provided on a form). Any further pages you visit on the site will have access to the cookie and be able to read its contents. When you leave the site, the cookie is usually saved. When you visit, the cookies is reactivated and the information access. Most cookies are intended to provide customized service.

Ad Network or Adware cookies record your activities across different site. Once deposited onto your hard drive, they can be activated and accessed from many of the web sites that you visit. These cookies are deposited on your hard disk by organizations that compile and market the information (e.g. Double Click and Avenue A)

So, What do you think? Are you aware about those cookies?

  1. Thanks Azaham for this info!

I've been curious about this cookie thingy but never make an effort to actually find out what it is all about. Hehe. And now I can improve the protection on my browser by choosing the correct choice from the content setting.
