Zam Zam. ala ka Zam!

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim

last weekend, I attended this course called 1CiTiZEN which is a requirement course for one of my subjects taken this semester. the course was handled in two days; Saturday and Sunday, from 9a.m. to 5p.m. (in tentative)

"1CiTiZEN is a special training program developed Prestariang Systems Sdn. Bhd. to foster national unity via appropriate use of technology. It inspires Netizen to become critical thinkers that understand ethical consequences of online behavior."

... The End.

ok. it is not the course that matters. what I want to share with all of you here is what I get from the course. *jaw-drop hello. I gain something of course! under Module 6 called e-Enterprise, we were exposed to online transaction like eBay, lelong, Murah and etc. However, there is another site that we can go for online shopping with super great deal. I mean SUPER GREAT DEAL. (sorry for exaggerating) you can find a lot of cool stuff there with cool price though.

tadaaa... Zam Zam, ala ka Zam!

alibaba.com

alibaba.com is an online business-to-business trading platform for small business  it was founded in China and now are all over the world. *wiki ;)  but, the problem is, you have to buy the items in bulk. like 50 pieces and above? -___- that's why we called it e-Enterprise. this is where you can start small business. find something you think can hit the market. ... errr... you can try at least. with your best friend first. who knows you can be a successful businesswoman? or businessman for Ekram ;)

go through the link I embedded under the image. they sell a lot of unique things that you have not seen in Malaysia. with a super cheap price!

Just. make sure you read through their T&C before buying. never be cheated! online shopping might risk you in certain situation. there are some tips to do online shopping that I got from the course  :

  • make sure you know the trader's full details. those details can be used as backup information if you need to lodge a fraud report
  •  look for website that provide secure payment -a padlock icon will be shown on the screen while you are filling in the payment details
  • double check whether the company has a privacy statement that tells you what they will do with your personal information
  • protect your privacy. do not simply disclose your personal details

that is all from me. till we meet again next week with more new things to be discovered. out and about :D

wallahu'alam

Browser browser browser

Assalamualaikum Dr.Rose and my fellow classmates.
I hope all of you are in the good health :)

Today I want to talk about browsers or can also be known as platforms.
I bet all of us know what it is right? :)
As the technology progress better and better everyday, a lot of new browsers
has been invented as to get along with people needs.

The uses of browser is as the navigator to bring internet in for example like:

Internet Explorer

Mozila Firefox

Opera

Safari

Google Chrome

Here are some simple tips:

1. From what I learnt, Mozila Firefox offers better security than Internet Explorer
2. Worms, viruses and Trojan horses are often written especially for a certain browser.
Therefore by using a less popular browser may actually keeps you safer.
3. Always avoid downloading any ActiveX controls when prompted, unless the
website is the one that you truly trust, such as Microsoft.

So, that's all for now. Have a great day everyone! toodles :)

Assalamualaikum and good day to all :)

So, this is my 3rd post on this blog and I'd love to tell you guys about Gmail Offline, a web app by Google. After several trials, it was launched on August 2011. So here's the thing. I want to share with you my experience.

There was this one time where IIUM Community connection was........depressing. I mean yes it happens everytime but at that time, I could not connect to IIUM Community network, at all, and could only connect to IIUM Guest. I was really in need to check my email and download the attachments, and that was when I realised I should be using the Gmail Offline app that I've downloaded for a while, but have never been using it. I thought that I would not be able to download the attachments, but Alhamdulillah, I managed to download them.

If your're interested to 'own' one, you may just go to Chrome Web Store, and yes, it is only available for Google Chrome. (yes everybody knows this, but I just HAVE to, lol), search for Gmail Offline, download and then install it. Once you have installed the app, it will appear on your chrome just like below:

You can access it whenever you're offline. You can check your e-mails, do some editing (star, move to folders, or delete), and reply. Once your computer is connected to the internet, the email will be sent. From my experience here in IIUM, even if you're connected to IIUM Guest, the email can still be sent, where the receiver received it promptly after I sent the e-mail and guys, the interface is comforting (for my eyes, at least :p).

Here's Gmail Offline interface:

The icon at the top left corner will enable you to do some adjustments according to your needs.

Sometimes we are having bad days where internet is not connected and we still need to access the mailbox, so here's one of the ways to get accessed to our emails :)

And people, I'm sorry for the images above, you know they seemed like out of proportion or something but I have tried to make them both to be at 'left' side and they are extra large. If I make them into large size, it is too unclear for us to see.

Spin the world and learn!

Hello Mate! *Australian Accent* ;p

This week I’m gonna post something like happening everyday in our life as student but we don't generally name it. Guess what??

DISTANCE LEARNING!!

Have heard of it before?

What comes first in your mind?

                        Study abroad?

                        Teacher Student affair? :O

Enough is enough.. Distance learning is …

                                                              THIS!

Generally, distance learning is where students can learn on their own whether from home or coffee shop and connected with institution and classmates through email, e-learning, chat rooms, instant messaging, Facebook and other forms of digital-based communication.

In our university, IIUM established e-learning to teachers and students so that they are still connected to each other although the class is over. This kind of technology lifted a lot of burden either to the educators or learners.

This is what we called distance learning! :D no matter how far you are from each other, you guys still can exchange resources over continents. I love this sentence from some websites, “With distance learning, teachers can bring the world into the classroom and send their students out into the world.”
Have a nice day! J

I need power!

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim

Are you a smartphone user?
have you ever being in dilemma in switching to Nokia 3310?

YES!
Nokia 3310!
the legendary hand phone ever!

since I am one of smartphone users, I tend to fall into that kind of dilemma. It is not that smartphones are lighter than Nokia 3310 which you can throw towards a dog that ran after you when you are busy shopping at Jalan TAR or walking alone in a quiet place. This is true! Nokia 3310 was assumed to have that kind of specialty; a weapon! It is kind of heavy though. ^.^v

Sorry for the Gags. Back to the topic. It is just that smartphone's battery consumption really drive me crazy. It can drain in only 2 hours if  I happen to use it non stop to go online. Shouldn't the engineer who first design those smartphones consider this kind of problem and make the battery to stand more longer? They have named it as smartphone, but why isn't the battery 'smart' too? lulz

Just an alternative that I have recently discovered. Power bank are selling fast nowadays. Most smartphone users are looking forward to have it because it is easier to charge their phone when needed. It is a portable charger that you can carry anywhere. This power bank thingy comes with different power capacity. The more capacity it can store, of course the more money you have to spend and the longer it can be used. This are some examples :

I do own one and it can charge up to 70% of my phone's battery. At least I do have an alternative when my phone is running out of battery power. Alhamdulillah. Oh, back to Nokia 3310. I just want to say that I miss that phone very much. I usually charge it once a week which sometimes I did not realize that the battery had drained up. How fast time has traveled. ~

From Blogging to Vlogging

Assalamualaikum,,

The world has surely developed into a new dimension. People can now use a new way of delivering opinions and thoughts. The freedom of speech is quite practised through this technology development.

Not long time ago, people were introduced with the blogging thing. They use this medium to express what they feel and think. No matter what the issues are, everything is shared virtually. From personal experience to a more serious issues, eg: world's update, political issue and many more. People make blogs as place to share and exchange opinions. And today this method is still chosen by many of us.

However, another medium of sharing has appeared! Now, we have Vlogging. Vlogging is a video sharing with people talking in it. It is some sort of an alive blog. While in blogs people can just read the words, in vlogs, users can watch what is being conveyed with some sound added into it. From my humble opinion, vlogging is much more effective than blogging.

We do not have to go far to search for examples. In Malaysia, we have Aiman Azlan, Anwar Hadi and Mat Luthfi. These are among most influenced figures in vlogging world. They are now celebrities. They are definitely creative in delivering good messages. And, many of their fans out there are on their ways of following those celebrities' footsteps.

I'm not telling that Vlogging is far better than Blogging. What I am trying to stress here is that we have been provided with various ways of sharing. Now, it is up to us to utilize them or not. And of course, we should share about good things so that people out there can taste the same feeling of goodness.

Like Prophet Rasulullah saw had said:
"Convey from me even one ayah"

So, start sharing and spread the love and goodness to the world!

Tablet PC

Assalamualaikum to my dear Mdm.Rose and the lovely classmates.

Today, I will be writing on Tablet PC. Tablet PC is a mobile computer. Tablet PC can be either touchscreen or  pen-enabled interface. For those who are already tired of using a keyboard, you should try this Tablet PC.

Google Android Tablet PC

This is Google Android Tablet PC. it is just 7 inch, small size for a PC but the lightest of them all. It is very light, like you are not holding to them. This tablet PC is very easy to use, just by slightly sweeping the touch screen. The images are in high quality and so do the videos. It is provided with 800x480 high brightness TFT LCD screen. When you are watching a video, you can feel yourself in the video. Extremely satisfying!!

Now, for the software. Google Android Tablet PC is provided with plenty of functions such as Google Maps, Google Contacts, Gmail, and so much more. By using this tablet PC, you can enjoy using the popular os just for free. You can use this tablet PC up to 2 hours long.

I would love to get one of this if I do have the cash. ^.^

That's all from me. See you again. :)

Really Ipad?

Comparison of Ipad 1 and 2
While I’m searching for my topic, I saw a few rumors saying that the Ipad 3 will appear in the market soon. It looks like Apple now keeps upgrading their machines and gadgets and before we want to buy any of these Ipads, we might want to review what specs that differs Ipad 1 from Ipad 2. First of all, let’s look at the design; Ipad 2 is the iPad 2 is much thinner than the iPad 1. It measures just 8.8mm thick, compared to the 13.4mm of the iPad 1.

In terms of processor and graphics, it is found that the dual-core iPad 2 loaded apps and web pages faster than the iPad 1, though not twice as fast as Apple's claims suggest. The graphics were sharper, more detailed, and the motion (the frame rate) was smoother, too. The speed difference is more pronounced in games and for gamers; Ipad 2 is a big upgrade.

Next is the camera, There's nothing to compare in this department as the iPad 1 doesn't have any cameras. The iPad 2 cameras are underwhelming, though. There's no flash on the rear-facing camera, and it's got a low resolution - okay for HD video, not great for photos. I found a table that describe better on the differences of these Ipads and if you think that Ipad 2 is a major upgrade for Ipad, what do you think  Ipad 3 will looks like?
