Sitting in front of the computer for hours is hazardous to
our health. However, it is unavoidable for us not to do it because we have to
finish assignments, and also find resources on line. According to Dr Robert
Abel Jr, an ophthalmologist, people who sit in front of computers for hours each
day have the tendency to get Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). CVS refers to
eyestrain resulting from long term use of computers. This syndrome does not
have serious or long term consequences, but it is unpleasant and uncomfortable.
Eyestrain can cause eyesore, fatigue, neck sore, blurred vision, dry eyes, head
ache, sensitivity to light and nearsightedness. Study shows in the last 25
years the incidence of nearsightedness among adults has increased form 25% to
42%.
Fret not, here are some suggestions how to prevent us from
getting CVS. First of all, change your computer’s brightness. Try to dim
ambient lightning to half of its normal brightness. Other than that, take a
series of break from your work on the computer. Stand, stretch and walk a few
steps to give your body some rest. Go talk to your roommates or make yourself a drink. Blink slowly for ten times in every twenty
minutes to rewet our eyes. Every so
often, look away from the computer screen and look at something far away from
our vision. It will help the condition of the eye to refocus. I hope you will benefit from this post! Say YES to a healthy lifestyle.
(Ophthalmology is the
branch of medicine that deals with the anatomy, physiology and diseases of the
eye)
Speaking of healthy lifestyles . . . don't forget to get up for some fresh air i.e; EXERCISE! ;)
ReplyDeletethank you for the tips Ekram! surely will apply it :D
ReplyDeleteHere's another tip to freshen up tired eyes after a long day on the computer.
ReplyDelete1. Get up and look at trees or any lush greenery. This helps out with you colour balance in you retina.
2. Go to the loo, and splash water directly to closed eyes for about a minute. This helps your constricted blood capillaries in and around your eyes to return to their relaxed form; plus, any redness in the eyes will soon disappear as well.
Try it, it really works^^
